SMASH HITS AND GOOD SPIRITS
Philharmonic concert today with young generation conductors
...At the end of the first rehearsal the orchestra musicians tapped their music stands longer than usual. This means great acknowledgement for a young musician, who is only now showing the first signs of exhaustion. "Her beat is light and easy to follow; she carries the orchestra with her," said the first violinist Birgit Wiethaus, and Nicola Götzinger (cello) praised "the very intensive work, which does us good." This seems to bear out what Lisa Xanthopoulou expects of a conductor: "He simply has to arouse the enthusiasm of the musicians to achieve a good result."
